Notable Verses:

  • John 15:1‭-‬2 NLT: “I am the true grapevine, and my Father is the gardener. He cuts off every branch of mine that doesn’t produce fruit, and he prunes the branches that do bear fruit so they will produce even more.”
  • John 15:4 NLT: “Remain in me, and I will remain in you. For a branch cannot produce fruit if it is severed from the vine, and you cannot be fruitful unless you remain in me.”
  • John 15:7 NLT: “But if you remain in me and my words remain in you, you may ask for anything you want, and it will be granted!
  • John 15:17 NLT: “This is my command: Love each other.”
  • John 15:26 NLT: “But I will send you the Advocate —the Spirit of truth. He will come to you from the Father and will testify all about me.

Discussion:

  • The only guaranteed way of bearing fruit is by remaining connected to Jesus (v 4).
  • When we obey God’s commandents, we remain in His love and we are friends of Jesus (v 10,14)
  • We didn’t choose Jesus: He rather chose us and planned for us to bear fruit (v 16). 

Today’s Prayer: Lord Jesus, please help me to stay connected to you. Please help me to love you. I choose to walk in obedience to your Word. Please fill me with your Holy Spirit in your name I pray. Amen
