Hello dear people.  I apologize for not publishing this post earlier: I thought that I had already scheduled it but apparently, I was wrong. I’ll be posting the devotions for 19th, 20th and 2 1st shortly. Thanks for your understanding!

Daily Memory Verse: “In the same way the Spirit also helps our weakness; for we do not know how to pray as we should, but the Spirit Himself intercedes for us with groanings too deep for words; (Romans 8:26 NASB).” http://bible.com/100/rom.8.26.NASB

Bible reading for the day:

John 19

Notable Verses:

  • John 19:1‭-‬2 NLT: Then Pilate had Jesus flogged with a lead-tipped whip. The soldiers wove a crown of thorns and put it on his head, and they put a purple robe on him.
  • John 19:28‭-‬30 NLT: “Jesus knew that his mission was now finished, and to fulfill Scripture he said, “I am thirsty.”  A jar of sour wine was sitting there, so they soaked a sponge in it, put it on a hyssop branch, and held it up to his lips. When Jesus had tasted it, he said, “It is finished!” Then he bowed his head and released his spirit.”

Discussion:

  • Jesus was flogged with a lead-tipped whip. This is in fulfilment of old testament scriptures that say that we are headed by his stripes (Isaiah 53:5).
  • The Jews kept insisting that Cesar was the only King they had.
  • Jesus’ life and death was a fulfilment of many prophecies (v 24, 28, 36-37).
  • Jesus left his earthly mom in the care of John,  ‘the disciple who loved him’ (v 26,27).
  • Joseph of Arimathea and Nicodemus (John 3) helped in taking Jesus’ body down from the cross and performing his burial according to Jewish rites (v 38-42).

Today’s Prayer: Thank you Lord for suffering and dying for me on the cross. I’m forgiven and saved be a useful of your blood. I am headed by the stripes you received. In Jesus’ name I pray. AMEN.

This is a trustworthy saying, worthy of full acceptance: Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners, of whom I am the worst.  (1 Timothy 1:15 NLT)
