Daily Memory Verse: “My child, don’t reject the Lord’s discipline, and don’t be upset when he corrects you. For the Lord corrects those he loves, just as a father corrects a child in whom he delights (Proverbs 3:11‭-‬12 NLT).” http://bible.com/116/pro.3.11-12.NLT

Bible reading for the day:

John 20

Notable Verses:

John 20:8‭-‬9 ESV: “Then the other disciple, who had reached the tomb first, also went in, and he saw and believed; for as yet they did not understand the Scripture, that he must rise from the dead.”

John 20:21‭-‬23 ESV:  “Jesus said to them again, “Peace be with you. As the Father has sent me, even so I am sending you.”  And when he had said this, he breathed on them and said to them, “Receive the Holy Spirit.  If you forgive the sins of any, they are forgiven them; if you withhold forgiveness from any, it is withheld.”

John 20:24‭-‬25‭,29 ESV: “Now Thomas, one of the Twelve, called the Twin, was not with them when Jesus came. So the other disciples told him, “We have seen the Lord.” But he said to them, “Unless I see in his hands the mark of the nails, and place my finger into the mark of the nails, and place my hand into his side, I will never believe.” Jesus said to him, “Have you believed because you have seen me? Blessed are those who have not seen and yet have believed.”

John 20:30‭-‬31 ESV: “Now Jesus did many other signs in the presence of the disciples, which are not written in this book; but these are written so that you may believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God, and that by believing you may have life in his name.”

Discussion:
The Sunday after the death of Jesus, Simon Peter and John (nicknamed the disciple whom Jesus loved) went to his tomb and they didn’t see his body. Instead, they saw his burial cloths.
Afterwards, Jesus appeared to Mary Magdalene. She was actually the first person Jesus appeared to after his resurrection.

That same day, He appeared to the other disciples but Thomas was absent. When the other disciples told him, he didn’t believe them. 8 days later, Jesus appeared and this time, Thomas saw Him. Jesus told him that it is better to believe what you can’t see.

Today’s Prayer:
OH Lord, please make me a person of faith and may I grow from faith to faith in Jesus’ name. Amen

I don’t mean to say that I have already achieved these things or that I have already reached perfection. But I press on to possess that perfection for which Christ Jesus first possessed me. (Phillipians 3:12 NLT)
