Daily Memory Verse: “You will make known to me the path of life; In Your presence is fullness of joy; In Your right hand there are pleasures forever (Psalms 16:11 NASB).” http://bible.com/100/psa.16.11.NASB

Bible reading for the day:

John 9

Notable Verses:

  • John 9:39 NLT: “Then Jesus told him, “I entered this world to render judgment—to give sight to the blind and to show those who think they see that they are blind.”
  • John 9:41 NLT: “If you were blind, you wouldn’t be guilty,” Jesus replied. “But you remain guilty because you claim you can see.”

Discussion:

  • Sometimes, bad things happen to us for God’s power to be seen (v 3).
  • Jesus was never fixed in the way he healed people. He healed a blind man by spitting on the ground and rubbing the mud created onto the man’s eyes. The man followed Jesus’ instructions to wash himself in the pool of Siloam and he returned seeing (v 6,7).
  • Jesus can only help and savw us when we admit our disabilities and weaknesses (v 41).

This is a trustworthy saying, worthy of full acceptance: Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners, of whom I am the worst.  (1 Timothy 1:15 NLT)
