Hi lovely people. I started a discussion on marriage on the Inspiration and Lifestyle Facebook page and I will be continuing it as a series of posts & videos over the next few weeks. Today, I want to talk to the singles out there.
First of all before you get married yo need to celebrate this, many don’t but it is a tradition and an Essential one A bachelor party is an initiation into marriage, which, in modern times, is mostly understood as a celebration, by the groom’s male friends, of the groom’s last days of ‘freedom’. In the U.K., it tends to be called a stag (stag night, stag do, stag party…), and in Australia, a buck. The equivalent rite for the bride, attended by the bride’s female friends, is the bachelorette or hen party. Bachelor and Bachelorette parties have become favorite American traditions. The best man or maid of honor typically takes over planning the party. It’s a good idea to consult with the bride or groom and make sure they’re happy with the party ideas too. While you work out the destinations — whether clubbing, renting a cabin at a resort or staying in a hotel — consider making the trip there part of the festivity. How? By renting a party bus. When my friend was in Toronto, she was looking to rent a party bus for a family event. Go the extra mile for a special night out. In years to come, close friends will remember this ultra special occasion. It signals the end of being single and the beginning of a wonderful relationship. And when you make it truly special, you give the best send-off!
1. It is better to stay unmarried because:
- Marriage comes with its own troubles. Marriage is the union of two imperfect humans and it takes a lot of hard work to make it succeed. It is definitely not as easy as those romantic books you read when you were in high school!!
- When you are married, you have to think of how to please your spouse (and your children). When you are single and serving the Lord wholly, your entire life can be dedicated to his service. If you love to think only about yourself, then marriage is definitely not for you.

2. It is not a sin to get married.
3. Neither is it a sin not to get married. There is nothing wrong with you if you are not yet married or you don’t intend to get married. Not getting married is not a sign that there is something wrong with you. It’s not a sin either. “But if he has decided firmly not to marry and there is no urgency and he can control his passion, he does well not to marry” (1 Corinthians 7:37).
4. Some people have a special gift from God to stay chaste without getting married. Jesus said, “Some are born as eunuchs, some have been made eunuchs by others, and some choose not to marry for the sake of the Kingdom of Heaven. Let anyone accept this who can” (Matthew 19:12).
“But I wish everyone were single, just as I am. Yet each person has a special gift from God, of one kind or another” (1 Corinthians 7:7).
5. Not everyone has the gift of staying single. That’s why Paul says, “But if they can’t control themselves, they should go ahead and marry. It’s better to marry than to burn with lust. ” “But if a man thinks that he’s treating his fiancée improperly and will inevitably give in to his passion, let him marry her as he wishes. It is not a sin.” (1 Corinthians 7:9,36)
6. If you intend to get married, it should be someone who loves the Lord.” ….but only if he loves the Lord” (1 Corinthians 7:39b). We are already imperfect humans….Why would you commit to an imperfect person who has no relationship with God?
- Question: But how do I know if he/she loves the Lord? You know someone who loves God by their character. How does he/she act when with other people? Does he/she exhibit kindness and humility to even the lowest of people? “
If someone says, “I love God,” but hates a Christian brother or sister, that person is a liar; for if we don’t love people we can see, how can we love God, whom we cannot see?” (1 John 4:20)

- She might quote scriptures but does she practice what she preaches? “You shall know them by their fruits” (Matthew 7:16).
- If he is violent with you or others, DON’T MARRY THAT PERSON. Run away as fast as your legs can carry you. “Don’t befriend angry people or associate with hot-tempered people” (Proverbs 22:24).
- Yes, your biological clock might be ticking but don’t be desperate or in a hurry to get married. Just because you want to have a wife or husband does not mean you should settle for anyone or anything. Get to know the person. Do your investigation. “Also it is not good for a person to be without knowledge, And he who hurries his footsteps errs” (Proverbs 19:2 NASB).
- Listen to wise counsel. “Plans go wrong for lack of advice; many advisers bring success” (Proverbs 15:22).
7. Death is the only thing that God intends to separate a marriage. Although divorce is common, you should take note that when God designed marriage, his intention was that a man and woman should stay married till death did them part. “A wife is bound to her husband as long as he lives. If her husband dies, she is free to marry anyone she wishes, but only if he loves the Lord” (1 Corinthians 7:39).
