Daily Memory Verse: “Be still, and know that I am God. I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth! (Psalms 46:10 ESV).” http://bible.com/59/psa.46.10.ESV
John 5
Notable Verses:
- John 5:8-9, 14 NLT: “Jesus told him, “Stand up, pick up your mat, and walk!” Instantly, the man was healed! He rolled up his sleeping mat and began walking! But this miracle happened on the Sabbath, But afterward Jesus found him in the Temple and told him, “Now you are well; so stop sinning, or something even worse may happen to you.”
- John 5:24-26 NLT: “I tell you the truth, those who listen to my message and believe in God who sent me have eternal life. They will never be condemned for their sins, but they have already passed from death into life. “And I assure you that the time is coming, indeed it’s here now, when the dead will hear my voice—the voice of the Son of God. And those who listen will live. The Father has life in himself, and he has granted that same life-giving power to his Son.
Discussion:
- Sin can be a doorway for sickness into your life. Please note that this does not always meant that everyone who is sick is living in sin.
Are any of you sick? You should call for the elders of the church to come and pray over you, anointing you with oil in the name of the Lord. Such a prayer offered in faith will heal the sick, and the Lord will make you well. And if you have committed any sins, you will be forgiven. Confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed. The earnest prayer of a righteous person has great power and produces wonderful results.
James 5:14-16 NLT
- When you receive Jesus, you receive the promise of eternal life.
- The time will come when we shall all stand before God in judgement for the way we lived. Jesus is the chief judge and he is righteous, fair and just. He acts under God’s authority (v 27 – 29).
- Although John the Baptist was a witness to the Sonship of Jesus, his miracles and his teaching were an even greater witness(v 36). The greatest witness of all was the Father. Everyone testified of the authority with which Jesus taught the scriptures.
- The scriptures point to Jesus. He is life itself (v 33,34).
- Jesus never sought the approval of men (v 41). We should always seek God’s approval.
- The Israelites put their faith in other prophets but not in Jesus. Jesus told them that even Moses would testify against them for their unbelief (v45, 47).

I don’t mean to say that I have already achieved these things or that I have already reached perfection. But I press on to possess that perfection for which Christ Jesus first possessed me. (Phillipians 3:12 NLT)
