Daily Memory Verse: “For we do not have a high priest who cannot sympathize with our weaknesses, but One who has been tempted in all things as we are, yet without sin (Hebrews 4:15 NASB).” http://bible.com/100/heb.4.15.NASB
John 21
Notable Verses:
- John 21:5-7 ESV: “Jesus said to them, “Children, do you have any fish?” They answered him, “No.” He said to them, “Cast the net on the right side of the boat, and you will find some.” So they cast it, and now they were not able to haul it in, because of the quantity of fish. That disciple whom Jesus loved therefore said to Peter, “It is the Lord!” When Simon Peter heard that it was the Lord, he put on his outer garment, for he was stripped for work, and threw himself into the sea.”
- John 21:15-17 ESV: “When they had finished breakfast, Jesus said to Simon Peter, “Simon, son of John, do you love me more than these?” He said to him, “Yes, Lord; you know that I love you.” He said to him, “Feed my lambs.” He said to him a second time, “Simon, son of John, do you love me?” He said to him, “Yes, Lord; you know that I love you.” He said to him, “Tend my sheep.” He said to him the third time, “Simon, son of John, do you love me?” Peter was grieved because he said to him the third time, “Do you love me?” and he said to him, “Lord, you know everything; you know that I love you.” Jesus said to him, “Feed my sheep.”
- John 21:25 ESV: “Now there are also many other things that Jesus did. Were every one of them to be written, I suppose that the world itself could not contain the books that would be written.”
Discussion:
After Jesus’ death, his disciples went back to fishing because they were not yet sure of the next thing to do. Jesus appeared to them by performing a miracle of providing a large number of fish for them.
Even though Peter had denied Jesus 3 times on the night he was arrested, He still loved him. He asked Peter to prove his love for Him by feeding his sheep.
Today’s Prayer: Dear Lord, may my love for you be exhibited in all that I do. Please use me to feed your sheep. In Jesus’ name. Amen

This is a trustworthy saying, worthy of full acceptance: Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners, of whom I am the worst. (1 Timothy 1:15 NLT)
