Daily Memory Verse: “Trust in the Lord forever, for the Lord God is an everlasting rock (Isaiah 26:4 ESV).” http://bible.com/59/isa.26.4.ESV
Bible reading for the day: Joshua 20
Notable Verses:
Joshua 20:2-4 ESV: “Say to the people of Israel, ‘Appoint the cities of refuge, of which I spoke to you through Moses, that the manslayer who strikes any person without intent or unknowingly may flee there. They shall be for you a refuge from the avenger of blood. He shall flee to one of these cities and shall stand at the entrance of the gate of the city and explain his case to the elders of that city. Then they shall take him into the city and give him a place, and he shall remain with them.”
Discussion:
- Human beings are fickle but God is never changing. He is the same yesterday, today and forever. God is trustworthy all the time. Hence, we can trust him forever. He is our strength and our rock forever! (Memory Verse).
- Even God knows that sometimes a person might kill another person unintentionally. He instructed the Israelites to create cities of refugees where this class of people could flee to. The only condition was that they remain there until the death of the reigning high priest. After which, they would stand before the congregation and could then be allowed to go home.
Today’s Prayer: Oh Lord my refuge and my rock, please have mercy on me for every sin I might have committed unknowingly. Please reveal them to me and may I be sensitive to your prompts in Jesus’ name. Amen.

This is a trustworthy saying, worthy of full acceptance: Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners, of whom I am the worst. (1 Timothy 1:15 NLT)
