Daily Memory Verse: So then, while we have opportunity, let us do good to all people, and especially to those who are of the household of the faith (Galatians 6:10 NASB).” http://bible.com/100/gal.6.10.NASB
Bible reading for the day: Judges 4
Notable Verses:
Judges 4:1,14,23,24 NASB: Then the sons of Israel again did evil in the sight of the Lord , after Ehud died. Deborah said to Barak, “Arise! For this is the day in which the Lord has given Sisera into your hands; behold, the Lord has gone out before you.” So Barak went down from Mount Tabor with ten thousand men following him. So God subdued on that day Jabin the king of Canaan before the sons of Israel. The hand of the sons of Israel pressed heavier and heavier upon Jabin the king of Canaan, until they had destroyed Jabin the king of Canaan.
Discussion:
- This chapter is about Deborah’s time as a judge of Israel. At the time, Israel was in bondage to the people of Canaan. Their king was Jabin and Sisera was the commander of his army.
- Deborah summoned for a man called Barak and asked him to lead the Israelite army to fight against the Canaanites. However, Barak was afraid and asked Deborah to follow him. She agreed but predicted that a woman would get the glory got killing Sisera.
- Sisera found a place to rest and hide: Jael hid trusted friend’s house. Unfortunately, it seems that Jael’s wife didn’t share the same sentiments and she drove a peg through his head while he slept. Thus taking the glory from Sisera as Deborah had earlier predicted.
Today’s Prayer:
Dear Lord, please use me for your work. I will not look at the task but at your grace. Please keep disloyal friends from me and may I be a friend who can be trusted. In Jesus’ name. Amen.

I don’t mean to say that I have already achieved these things or that I have already reached perfection. But I press on to possess that perfection for which Christ Jesus first possessed me. (Phillipians 3:12 NLT)
