Daily Memory Verse: “And there is salvation in no one else; for there is no other name under heaven that has been given among men by which we must be saved (Acts 4:12 NASB).” http://bible.com/100/act.4.12.NASB
Bible reading for the day: Judges 3
Notable Verses:
- Judges 3:1, 4 NASB: “Now these are the nations which the Lord left, to test Israel by them ( that is, all who had not experienced any of the wars of Canaan; They were for testing Israel, to find out if they would obey the commandments of the Lord , which He had commanded their fathers through Moses.”
- Judges 3:8 NASB: “Then the anger of the Lord was kindled against Israel, so that He sold them into the hands of Cushan-rishathaim king of Mesopotamia; and the sons of Israel served Cushman rishathaim eight years.”
Discussion:
- The Israelites disobeyed God and He allowed them to become servants to the surrounding nations. They cried out to God and He delivered them by sending a judge. The first judge was Othniel, Caleb’s nephew.
- The land had rest for 40 years but when he died, they went back to serving idols. When this happened, God allowed them to be put in slavery again. This became a pattern. Disobedience-Slavery-Praying to God-A judge sent-Obedience to God-Death of judge-Back to disobedience.
Today’s Prayer: Dear Lord, I choose to serve you alone. Please help me get rid of all idols in my life. In Jesus’ name. Amen.

This is a trustworthy saying, worthy of full acceptance: Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners, of whom I am the worst. (1 Timothy 1:15 NLT)
