Daily Memory Verse: “So do not worry about tomorrow; for tomorrow will care for itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own (Matthew 6:34 NASB).” http://bible.com/100/mat.6.34.NASB
Bible reading for the day: Judges 2
Notable Verses:
Judges 2:1-2 NASB: “Now the angel of the Lord came up from Gilgal to Bochim. And he said, “I brought you up out of Egypt and led you into the land which I have sworn to your fathers; and I said, ‘I will never break My covenant with you, and as for you, you shall make no covenant with the inhabitants of this land; you shall tear down their altars.’ But you have not obeyed Me; what is this you have done?”
Judges 2:10,13 NASB: “All that generation also were gathered to their fathers; and there arose another generation after them who did not know the Lord , nor yet the work which He had done for Israel. So they forsook the Lord and served Baal and the Ashtaroth.”
Discussion:
After Joshua and the generation after him died, The Israelites forgot God and they started worshipping idols. God raised judges for them and during the lifetime of the Judges, they would obey God’s commands. When they died, they returned to the idols and false gods. God was angry and decided that He would let the remaining Canaanites live amongst them (v 21-23).
Today’s Prayer:
: Dear Lord, I choose you over idols. Please show me the things I have idolized in my life. In Jesus’ name. Amen.

I don’t mean to say that I have already achieved these things or that I have already reached perfection. But I press on to possess that perfection for which Christ Jesus first possessed me. (Phillipians 3:12 NLT)
