Hi dear people. Today, we are going to start reading through the book of Joshua. I am looking forward to it! My sincere prayer is that you will be blessed!
Daily Memory Verse: “Therefore do not throw away your confidence, which has a great reward. For you have need of endurance, so that when you have done the will of God you may receive what is promised (Hebrews 10:35-36 ESV).” http://bible.com/59/heb.10.35-36.ESV
Joshua 1
Notable Verses:
Joshua 1:1-3 ESV: “After the death of Moses the servant of the Lord , the Lord said to Joshua the son of Nun, Moses’ assistant, “Moses my servant is dead. Now therefore arise, go over this Jordan, you and all this people, into the land that I am giving to them, to the people of Israel. Every place that the sole of your foot will tread upon I have given to you, just as I promised to Moses.”
Joshua 1:8 ESV: “This Book of the Law shall not depart from your mouth, but you shall meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do according to all that is written in it. For then you will make your way prosperous, and then you will have good success.”
Discussion: After Moses died, Joshua became the next leader of the Israelites. I call the book of Joshua ‘The be-bold-and-courageous book’ because it is filled with thus phrase. It seems to me that Joshua might have been a timid person because God kept encouraging him to be bold (v 6,7,9). Even the people of Israel encouraged him to also be bold and courageous (vs 18). He chooses the weak to shame the strong (1 Corinthians 1:27).
Today’s Prayer:
I have not received a spirit of timidity but of power, love and self discipline. May I walk in power and not weakness. I will be bold and courageous by your grace. Your Word oh Lord will be my meditation day and night and may my path be prosperous as I do so in Jesus’ name. Amen

I don’t mean to say that I have already achieved these things or that I have already reached perfection. But I press on to possess that perfection for which Christ Jesus first possessed me. (Phillipians 3:12 NLT)
