Joshua 8:1‭-‬2 NLT: Then the Lord said to Joshua, “Do not be afraid or discouraged. Take all your fighting men and attack Ai, for I have given you the king of Ai, his people, his town, and his land. You will destroy them as you destroyed Jericho and its king. But this time you may keep the plunder and the livestock for yourselves. Set an ambush behind the town.”

Discussion:

  • This is quite an interesting chapter. God is a master warrior. He gave Joshua a strategy to defeat the city of Ai.
  • They were to split their army into two. The first group would go into the forest just close to the city and hide. The second group would attack the city and then pretend to retreat. 
  • The Ai soldiers would expectedly chase after the ‘retreating’ Israelites and then the first group who had been hiding would go into the city and burn it down. 

Today’s Prayer: I praise you o God because you are the chief strategist and the mighty warrior. I thank you that if you are for me, no one can go against me. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
