Hi lovely people. I apologize for my absence on the blog for the last week. I was away on a journey back home to Nigeria. I’ll give you the lowdown soon!

1. Your heart controls your words and actions

(Proverbs 27:19 NLT) As a face is reflected in water, so the heart reflects the real person.

We speak out of the abundance of our hearts. What you allow in your mind affects your thoughts. Your thoughts affect your actions and your actions determine your destiny. Your heart is your engine. It is your powerhouse. Keep your heart with all vigilance, for from it flow the springs of life.
A man or woman who feeds their heart with good things bears good fruit. What our hearts dwell on are eventually expressed in our words and actions.

For out of the heart comes evil thoughts, murder, adultery, sexual immorality, theft, false witness, slander. (Matthew 15:19 ESV)

Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is commendable, if there is any excellence, if there is anything worthy of praise, think about these things. (Phillippians 4:8 KJV)

2. Your heart pushes you towards sin or purity

Sin or purity starts from the heart.

“If I had cherished iniquity in my heart, the Lord would not have listened.” Psalm 66:18 ESV

“Blessed are the pure in heart: for they shall see God.” Matthew 5:8 KJV

“Create in me a clean heart, o God; and renew a right spirit within me.” Psalm 51:10 KJV

“Who may ascend into the hill of the LORD?
And who may stand in His holy place?
He who has clean hands and a pure heart,
Who has not lifted up his soul to falsehood
And has not sworn deceitfully.”  Psalm 24:3,4 NASB

[bctt tweet=”Blessed are the pure in heart: for they shall see God. Matthew 5:8 KJV”]

3. Your heart can be deceived. It can also deceive you

Your heart is deceitful and only God can know it.

“Take care lest your heart be deceived, and you turn aside and serve other gods and worship them;” Deuteronomy 11:16 KJV

“If anyone thinks he is religious and does not bridle his tongue but deceives his heart, this person’s religion is worthless.” James 1:26 ESV

Victim of your heart
4. Your heart can make you wise or foolish

“Foolishness is bound up in the heart of a child.” (Proverbs 22:15 KJV)

“A prudent man conceals knowledge, but the heart of fools proclaims folly.” (Proverbs 12:23 ESV)

“The heart of the wise teaches his mouth, and adds learning to his lips” (Proverbs 16:23 King James 2000 Bible)

5. Your heart controls your emotions

When your heart becomes hardened, you don’t listen to anyone: your friends, parents, spouse, pastor or even God. Jesus said that it was never God’s plan to permit divorce but he allowed it among the Israelites in the days of the old testament because of the hardness of their hearts.

[bctt tweet=”It was never God’s plan to permit divorce but He allowed it because of the hardness of their hearts.”]

“The foolishness of man ruins his way, And his heart rages against the LORD.” (Proverbs 19:3 NASB)

6. You can not change your heart by yourself

God is the only one who can change our hearts: He will give you a new heart of flesh. When your heart is transformed, your actions will change.

[bctt tweet=”God is the only one who can change our hearts. When your heart is transformed, your actions will change.”]

It is also very exciting to know that God’s word can keep you from sin: “I have hidden your word in my heart, that I might not sin against you.” (Psalm 119:11 NLT)

“Moreover, I will give you a new heart and put a new spirit within you; and I will remove the heart of stone from your flesh and give you a heart of flesh.” (Ezekiel 36:26 NASB)

“The king’s heart is in the hand of the Lord…” (Proverbs 21:1 KJV)

Prayer:
May the words of my heart and the meditations of my heart be acceptable to you o Lord
Teach me Your way, Yahweh, and I will live by Your truth. Give me an undivided mind to fear Your name.

And there is salvation in no one else; for there is no other name under heaven that has been given among men by which we must be saved. (Acts 4:12 New American Standard Bible).
