Hi people! So, I don’t bog you down with all the constant random thoughts going through my head, from time to time, I will do weekly ‘rumination’ posts going forward.
So, this post is going to talk about some of the things I’ve been thinking about this last week!

To announce your giving or not?
We all know that it’s better to give than to receive, but at the same time, we ought to remember what Jesus said about giving and letting others know about it. There’s something I see happening a lot these days: people go to orphanages to show them love and then they take pictures of themselves and put it on social media.
I can understand when someone else sees you there and publicizes it. That’s a different thing…I realize that this is especially true for celebrities. So, please next time you do an act of good for someone, please don’t go broadcasting it. Don’t also keep reminding the receiver of your gift!
“Beware of practicing your righteousness before other people in order to be seen by them, for then you will have no reward from your Father who is in heaven. Thus, when you give to the needy, sound no trumpet before you, as the hypocrites do in the synagogues and in the streets, that they may be praised by others. Truly, I say to you, they have received their reward (Matthew 6:3-4).”

How important is spelling and grammar to you?
I recently posted something about the importance of checking your spelling before sending or publishing any written work. However, I need to add this addendum here. No amount of spellcheck is going to help if you don’t have a solid grip on grammar. ?
Your words might be spelled correctly but if your sentence structure is off, it’s still not going to be readable. I attended some English grammar courses last year, and I was surprised how much I could still learn about this language! I have realized that there is still a lot of room for me to improve my English. Would you be willing to work on your English by taking some courses?

Changing accents or not?
Even though English is my first language and I have always felt confident about my ability to communicate, coming to Canada has made me insecure about this. Even though my Nigerian accent is not very thick, I have become a bit self-conscious. I am also sometimes concerned it might make it difficult for me to be heard as easily as I would like.
I have tried to change my accent a little to sound Canadian, but this is hard and sometimes interferes with my ability to speak clearly. ???
Do you try to modify your accent when talking to other English-speakers i.e British, Americans, Canadians or Australians?
