true success

Definition of Success (Merriam-Webster Dictionary):

  • the fact of getting or achieving wealth, respect, or fame
  • the correct or desired result of an attempt
  • someone or something that is successful : a person or thing that succeeds

There are so many ‘successful’ people alive today.

1. However, the best type of success comes from God. The LORD was with Joseph, so he succeeded in everything he did as he served in the home of his Egyptian master. (Genesis 39:2 NLT).

2. God is interested in seeing His children succeed. This is the promise he made to the Israelites and it is for all his children even now. The LORD will send rain at the proper time from his rich treasury in the heavens and will bless all the work you do. You will lend to many nations, but you will never need to borrow from them. (Deuteronomy 28:12 NLT).

3. God wants us to be put Him first and seek his glory and His kingdom in all that we do. When you do that, He will bless you with your heart’s desires. “So don’t worry about these things, saying, ‘What will we eat? What will we drink? What will we wear?’ These things dominate the thoughts of unbelievers, but your heavenly Father already knows all your needs. Seek the Kingdom of God above all else, and live righteously, and he will give you everything you need. (Matthew 6:31-33 NLT)

4. Your soul is far more precious than earthly success. Don’t throw away your values while seeking success. And what do you benefit if you gain the whole world but lose your own soul? Is anything worth more than your soul? (Matthew 16:26 NLT)

In summary, I think that: True success is achieving your life’s goal(s) by trusting in God and putting Him above those desires and goals.
“…God’s rules and laws are for your benefit, and so you do all you can to live by them. When you live this way, every step of obedience you take brings you closer to the freedom, wholeness, and true success God has for you.” [Cited from “30 days to becoming a woman of prayer” by Stormie Omartian* page 47].

I don’t mean to say that I have already achieved these things or that I have already reached perfection. But I press on to possess that perfection for which Christ Jesus first possessed me. (Phillipians 3:12 NLT)
