Hi dear people. You know how you slowly add weight? In early December, I noticed that I was weighing 77.1 kg and this was about a 5 or 6 kg gain from a few months before. I knew that I had to take charge or it would get out of hand.
I have been working out and also have a virtual personal trainer who I will elaborate more on soon. She sent me a food timetable and is always checking up on me. Sometimes, I want to run away from her messages. 😛 I am happy though, because thanks to her, I didn’t add any weight during the Christmas holidays. I kept my eating under control, kept up with my workouts and stayed accountable with my new Fitbit!
Yesterday, I was doing an analysis of what I eat daily and I had an epiphany. The two reasons why we work out and might not see results are:
- We underestimate how many calories we consume daily. The only way you can accurately measure how much food you eat daily is by having a food diary. Fortunately, there are so many phone and tablet apps to help you do that. The Fitbit is an all-in-one device that records your daily steps, workouts and its app can help you monitor your food intake. There is one caveat in checking your calorie content of your food if you eat African or ethnic food. You might not be able to get an accurate estimation of the calorie content. That’s why I like my personal trainer: she has a good timetable with calorie content for Nigerian food. If you need to know more about her, please leave a comment and I will give more details.
- We don’t even know many calories we need to consume to lose weight. You can find out how many calories you need to burn or eat to lose weight when you download a fitness tracking app. Or you can use a calorie calculator like this one HERE.
I have lost about 3 kg since I started my weight loss program and I would like to see if I can lose 8 more.
Have you tried losing weight and it just won’t budge?
